Profound!

When I was in Paris, I met a gentlemen off the FDR metro stop on the Avenue des Champs-�lys�es who asked me for directions. We got to talking a little bit and he got to telling me he was a playwright and in Paris for the first time to see a play. I asked him for the name of his play before we parted and he gave me all of the info and told me it was on Amazon. I read the preview and was instantly hooked and so bought the kindle version of it yesterday and just finished it.

It addresses existential crises that we all face, has a good progression of ideas and one of the craziest plot twists I've ever read. This author is a genius schooled in literature, philosophy and theology in a level deeper than most.

About the Author

Professor Terry Brown graduated from Queen Elizabeth College, London with a BSc Hons in Microbiology in 1974, and from University College London with a PhD in 1977. He joined the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology as a postdoctoral researcher in 1981, and has remained in Manchester ever since, becoming the UK's first Professor of Biomolecular Archaeology in 2000. He was Head of Biomolecular Sciences from 2002�€“2004 and has been Associate Dean in Life Sciences since 2004.

Terry Brown has been active in genomics and biomolecular archaeology since 1989. He is particularly interested in the origins and spread of agriculture and has published a number of research papers that describe how examination of the genomes of wheat and maize can provide information on the history of cultivation of these crops.

Molecular Genetics Class - Supposedly the Best Edition than the newer ones.

Bought for my molecular Genetics Class.

Professor highly recommended we get this edition and not the latest 4th Edition as this book supposedly covers the topic of molecualr genetics more in-depth than the newer volumes.

Ended up paying $45 for a used copy but beats paying $150 for the 4th edition from the campus bookstore.

I used this txtbk a couple years ago and refer back to it a few times a year to go over basic gene stuff. What I like about it is that it does a good job of getting to the basic stuff with simple diagrams (in my opinion).

A book you can actually put into action

I feel like 99% of self-help books, be it self-help in work, love, friendships, what have you, are useless. They always have fluff chapters of 'act motivated and be motivated!' or 'think like a winner!' and various platitudes of that nature. You wind up finishing the book and realizing you read nothing but pseudo-motivational dribble that will wind up having zero impact on whatever you were looking to improve upon.

Enter 'SPIN Selling' - this book delivers where all of those other books have failed. In this book is a solid layout of how you should structure your sales calls, and not only that, but data to back up their claims and examples to on how to lead. Read this book, take notes, and I guarantee if you weren't already aware of how to sell in this style, your selling WILL improve.

I'm a novice to sales. Last year when I was interviewing for a sales position I was asked to put together a sales presentation and to sell a product. I was given the product brochure and 1 day to come up with something. Using 'SPIN Selling' as my guide, I put together a list of ideas and pitched them in my presentation. My interviewer was blown away. After I got the job, my manager told me he had never had someone deliver such a good presentation - everyone always focuses on selling the product, but they never try and sell the customer. Taking a note from this book, I asked the questions I needed to ask, developed them into problems for the buyer, and then walked them through the solution with their own words. It was a total and complete win.

I was tempted to give this book 4 stars because it really does falter in a few areas. For one, some of the research is tenuous at best -

Mounce Greek and English Interlinear New Testament

This is an excellent tool for seminary students and faculty as well as bible college level Greek students. I use this for bible study and sermon preparation and to complete seminary projects. It saves steps by giving you the Strong's numbers and lexicon references which saves time. This is an excellent work which every serious scholar would want to have in their library, however, I hesitate to suggest its use to lay people who have not had any formal Greek training. For those with no background in biblical Greek, try William Mounce's "Greek For The Rest of Us" and also mounces other textbooks and workbooks as well.

The best interlinear I've ever used

I have owned at least four interlinear New Testaments over the last forty years, and this is by far the most useful. I am only a dilettante in Greek (two years in college 1973-74), so I need all the help I can get. As others have mentioned, the parsing guides, and the G/K numbers coupled with the lexicon support my amateurish attempts to use the Greek. Parallel columns with the literal NASB and the rather paraphrastic NIV offer alternate renderings. It's dangerous to draw doctrinal conclusions from the Greek at my level of fluency, but this is a terrific tool that I can use to check other expositor's claims about the original language of the New Testament.

Great Study Resource

This interlinear is great for what it is...a study resource. It is not meant to be lugged around and taken to church. It is meant to sit on your desk and study. As such it includes the GK numbers for each Greek word, and each Greek word is parsed. It is meant for a person who is either really serious about their Bible despite having no Greek training, or someone who has a little understanding of the Greek language, but not enough to pop open a Greek New Testament and start reading.

The Greek font is wonderful compared to the old style you see in other interlinears, and the page does not feel cluttered, despite the fact that it is fully used.

Best for areas outside of Prague

This is the most thorough book on the small towns outside the large cities of these two countries. I found a lot of details that were helpful in planning my routing to see things of interest to me.

The book begins with general areas of interest and where to go to see them: landscape and wildlife, architecture, music, decorative arts, and literature. Highlights for each month of the year will help you choose when to go. The history section is quite good and you really need to have some background to enjoy your visit unless you only are interested in shopping. When you are on site you will wonder how this (fill-in the blank) got to look this way. Travel in the region will expose you to things you haven't seen elsewhere.

The countries are divided into regions and then each city has a description and many include maps, photos, cross-sections of buildings, and suggested walking tours.

In the back you will find an abbreviated list of hotels and restaurants. It will give you an idea of price ranges but I would look to Lonely Planet for inexpensive places and Fodor's for those who travel first class. DK Eyewitness has the best overall book and I would make decisions on where to go based on the descriptions. Then I would consult Lonely Planet if you are using buses and trains.

Based primarily on the book's descriptions, from these 3 base locations I took half-day trips to:
Prague: Dobris, Krivoklat
Olomouc: Pernstejn, Kromeriz, Lednice, Valtice, Bouzov
Cesky Krumlov: Budejovice, Hluboka, Prachatice, Trebon
Not only were these destinations enthralling, but the trip to get there showed me the countryside
